Clinicient and FOTO Integration Puts Complete Clinical and Financial Outcomes Data at Therapists’ Fingertips
Portland, Ore., November 10, 2015

Clinicient Inc., a leader in outpatient rehabilitation automation solutions, today announced a technological collaboration with Focus On Therapeutic Outcomes, Inc. (FOTO®), a medical rehabilitation company that measures and reports functional outcomes. As a result of their combined efforts, FOTO’s Web-based outcomes measurement system will fully integrate with Clinicient’s clinical, financial, and revenue cycle management platform, Insight, to easily measure and communicate the quality and efficiency of patient treatments.

In the new era of fee-for-performance healthcare delivery, outpatient rehab providers must clearly demonstrate clinical and financial outcomes in order to earn full payer reimbursement and generate new patient referrals. The full integration of FOTO with the Insight platform will automate the measurement and analysis of treatment outcomes within Clinicient customers’ regular Insight platform workflow.

With outcomes data at their fingertips, Clinicient customers will be able to easily communicate the value of their therapy to stakeholders at every point along the continuum of care. Even more, the Insight platform’s single system for clinical and financial patient information will combine FOTO’s clinical outcomes with robust Insight data illuminating the financial efficacy of each patient’s treatment plan.

“Our practice has been using FOTO to measure and improve our patient’s clinical outcomes since 1994. We have been using Clinicient to measure and improve our practice’s documentation and financial performance since 2014. I am thrilled to now have access to both powerful solutions within the same system and user interface,” said Seth Kaplan, PT, president and CEO of Baton Rouge Physical Therapy-Lake. “The Clinicient partnership with FOTO will make it fast and easy for me to explain the value of the treatment we provide to payers and referring physicians. This is a game changer for our practice and its future.”

“I am pleased to announce Clinicient’s collaboration with FOTO, which has been a leader in measuring and reporting functional outcomes for the outpatient rehabilitation industry for over two decades,” said Rick Jung, chairman and chief executive officer of Clinicient. “Today’s announcement puts the power to identify and communicate differences in treatment value into both the hands of therapists, as well as the physicians that refer to them. The integration of our two systems will make it easier than ever for Clinicient customers to use outcomes data to meet payer incentives and create a win for all parties involved in the delivery of care: patients, providers, and payers.”

“New functionality we developed this year to further enhance FOTO’s API enables mutual clients to gain great efficiency in data collection and reporting,” states Al Amato, PT, MBA, president of FOTO. “The strength of each product is made available to the user in a more seamless format to enable insight into clinic operations, staff efficiency, and care outcomes. This promises to help the client succeed in the current difficult and ever changing health care environment.” Amato continues, “Combining FOTO treatment outcomes data with episodic data available in Clinicient’s platform will provide reports necessary to respond to competitive forces demanding clinical and administrative accountability. You can’t just say you are a good provider anymore. Now, you have to prove you are providing better outcomes, improved patient satisfaction, and lower total cost of care. This combination provides the tools you need to be competitive now and in the future.”

FOTO’s outcomes reports compare treatment effectiveness, treatment efficiency, and patient satisfaction by impairment. The company’s database is the largest and most valid external database for rehabilitation that measures functional outcomes for orthopedic, neurological, work hardening/work conditioning, pain management, cardiovascular pulmonary, and pelvic floor dysfunction patients.

Clinicient’s Insight platform offers a unique combination of revenue cycle software and services that optimize all administrative and clinical functions related to the capture, management, and collection of patient treatment revenue. Revenue cycle management is rapidly emerging as a critical business priority for all therapy providers coping with compounding regulatory requirements and new outcomes-based reimbursement policies.
