Healthcare information technology leader recruits top executive talent and completes renovation of 27,000 square foot historic building in downtown Portland.

Portland, Ore., August 12, 2014-

Clinicient, Inc., a leader in outpatient rehabilitation business solutions, today announced its expansion to meet the surging revenue cycle management needs of therapy practices across the country. Only months after receiving $15 million in Series C funding from growth equity firm Catalyst Investors, Clinicient recruited top executive talent and celebrated the opening of its state of the art headquarters in downtown Portland.

This expansion further extends Clinicient’s revenue cycle management expertise to therapy practices struggling to increase revenue, decrease operational costs and minimize time to collect in a reformed healthcare environment.

Portland’s economy will directly benefit from Clinicient’s growth as an employer of choice in the vibrant health information technology (IT) industry. Analysts say the health IT market value will swell to $56.7 billion by 2017 due to the rising demand for healthcare specific data technology and business solutions.[i] This need is deeply felt by outpatient therapy practices facing increasingly complex payer regulations and low reimbursement rates. Clinicient’s data driven coaching staff uses highly tailored, cloud-based revenue cycle technology to help therapists earn more revenue, work more efficiently, shorten payment cycles and develop stronger relationships with their patients.

“Recognized as one of the fastest growing cities in America, Portland’s creative and entrepreneurial economy is the perfect environment for healthcare innovation,” said Rick Jung, CEO at Clinicient. “As Clinicient continues on its growth trajectory, we are proud to attract such high caliber executives as Michael Northover, Christine Dorrance, Sandy Pennington, Doug Schumann, and Janet Lanham. World-class leadership is the key ingredient to becoming a Top 100 Oregon employer.” Newly recruited Clinicient executives include:

  • Michael Northover, M.B.A., chief technology officer: Northover has previously held CTO, COO and senior IT management positions in the Portland Area and New York.
  • Christine Dorrance, vice president, finance and administration: Dorrance has previously held CFO, Controller and senior financial management positions in the financial services industry.
  • Sandy Pennington, M.B.A., vice president, people and process: Pennington has held similar positions in both Portland and San Jose, Calif.
  • Doug Schumann, M.A., vice president of customer success: Schumann is a six Sigma Black Belt and PMP Certified Project Manager with over 15 years of experience coaching organizations to reach their highest potential.
  • Janet Lanham, R.N., vice president of services delivery: Lanham is a 30-year industry veteran of revenue cycle management who has held positions at every major point along the continuum of care.

In order to support its rapidly increasing customer base, Clinicient also moved into 27,000 square feet at the newly renovated historic Mohawk building, 708 S.W. Third Ave., where it occupies the third and fourth floors.

“Portland is a renowned incubator for start-ups that have made a real difference in business and personal lives. Clinicient is a testament to this.” said Sasha Kolbeck, DPT, OCS, CMPT, physical therapist and co-owner at Pettygrove Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation in northwest Portland. “As an independent physical therapy practice, while not losing site of patient care and what we love doing, we also need to focus on maximizing collections for care already provided. Limited reimbursements from Medicare and other payors, as well as the uncertainties of the healthcare environment, pose a threat for many physical therapists as insurance regulations grow increasingly complex. With Clinicient’s fully integrated software and revenue cycle management expertise, as well as their coaching during the implementation phase and ongoing webinar education series, my physical therapy practice is in a stronger position to thrive in health reform, optimizing our collections while continuing to deliver premium care to our patients.

“As a fellow Portland business owner, I could not be more proud of Clinicient’s growth. We are excited to see it continue to take off to support more physical therapists around the country,” said Karl Kolbeck, PT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT, physical therapist and co-owner at Pettygrove Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation. “Clinicient has already improved how we engage with our patients, streamlined continuity of care, strengthened relationships with our referral sources and given us the confidence to not miss a beat in health reform.” Founded in 2004, Clinicient is the only revenue cycle software and clinical solutions company exclusively focused on the outpatient rehabilitation therapy marketplace. With nearly $1 billion in payments under management, Clinicient supports thousands of therapists in 45 states across the United States.
